My Halloween Night in Belltown!

Happy post Halloween!

I had an awesome Halloween night and partied with my good friends in Seattle! This year I decided to go as the 'The Fall Season'.
Halloween Style Staple: BEBE stretch dress, Dollar Tree leaves, JoAnn Fabric and Craft Store twigs, ShoeDazzle yellow gold pumps.

I was so excited to see my Halloween decor live in action at Amber Restaurant & Lounge. It was definitely a night to remember and I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween!

Wig 'N Out Costume Party

After searching high and low (not really, I went to one place..haha) I finally found the perfect wig to wear to my Wig'N Out Costume Party and it didn't end up being any of the wigs I blogged about earlier this week in my Wig'N Out Party: Wigs entry. I chose to get Nicki Minaj on 'em with a super hot pink wig from Party at Display & Costume.
The venue I chose to host the party at was Amber Restaurant & Lounge. They have an awesome upstairs mezzanine area perfect for private parties. I hosted my Halloween Party last year there too! I wanted to make decorations simple by filling the room with mannequins! In my blog entry, Props till you Drop, I talk about how incorporating props in your decor can really enhance the room and activate sight. Champions Party Supply was nice enough to let me rent some mannequins, and believe me when I say, they were a HIT!

Another decorative element that I added to the party was inspired by a little window shopping I did back when I was visiting California earlier this month. A clothing store had hung some merchandise from the ceiling and I thought it was so artistic. Keeping that same concept, I ran to Sally's Beauty Supply and bought anything you could think of related to hair: curlers, combs, hair bands, hairspray, etc. Then, with fishing line I tied the objects to it and then tied the other end of the fishing line to the hooks of a suction cup (item you use to hang banners). The camera does not due the image below justice, but overall, the project turned out super cute!

All in all, my first Wig'N Out Costume Party was a success and I cannot wait to plan another costume party all in the name of Halloween!

XOXO,

Favorite Find: Most Creative Halloween Costumes

Last year, experts estimated that consumers would spend about $6 billion on Halloween-related purchases. Of that $6 billion, $2.11 billion would be spent on Halloween costumes alone!! Unlike other years, I am really struggling as to what to wear for Halloween! It's funny, as you get older, you're less worried about looking sexy for Halloween and more interested in looking totally nuts on this freaky day. Speaking of totally nuts, check out these super creative costumes I've come across!

ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS

PROSTHETIC WALRUS MASK

IPHONE DOGGY SCREENSAVER

PAINTED ANIMAL FACE

Photoshoot Fresh: Halloween Theme

Rather than saying what I (Party with a K) can design for the candy buffets that I do, I figured I would SHOW it! Last week I met with my photographer and got photo shoot fresh (well, not me, but the candy buffet table!).The first theme I will show you from the photo shoot was the Halloween themed photos....I know, Halloween is not for another 8 months, but now you have something to look forward to ;-) check it out!

Happy Halloween!

This past weekend I got to host my first Halloween Party! Even with the limited space I had to work with and a couple restrictions, I still managed to pull off what people felt was a fun Halloween Bash. The key to tying together any type of Halloween decor is to add COBWEBS! The cobwebs really enhance that spooky, Halloweeny look. Check out the pics!

DIY Halloween Haunted House!

It's the most spooky time of the year, so partake in the scary fun of Halloween by hosting your own Halloween Haunted House. I for one am all about going ALL OUT, and what better way than turning your own house into a Haunted House?!

In one of my blog entries, "Props Till You Drop", I talked about how using props can really enhance a party and activate an important sense: sight. Thus, at your Halloween Haunted House props are a MUST. The best way to search for unique Halloween props is to try and locate props stores near your city or online.

Here are a few links to some Halloween prop sites I found courtesy of Bueno:

1) The Horror Dome

2) The Nightmare Factory

3) Haunted House Supplies

4) Find A Haunted House In Your Area

5) Haunted Ventures Special FX

6) Special FX Supplies

7) Fog Machines For Indoor and Outdoor

8) Buyout Costumes: Shop of Horrors

GHOULLLLLL LUCK ;-)

Recipe of the Day: Brain Cupcakes

Need some "food for thought"? Brain cupcakes coming right up!

With Halloween around the corner, I am sure you are getting ready to bake some ghoulish treats, so this week I will feature some awesome recipes that you can make for your Halloween Party.

First up, Brain Cupcakes from Disney Family Fun!

Ingredients

-Cake Batter of your choice (for a dozen cupcakes)
-Food coloring: yellow, pink, and green
-Buttercream frosting

Baking Tools
-pastry bag (to fill the frosting with)
-#10 round tip (to place on the pastry bag)

Instructions

Step#1-Bake a batch of 1 dozen cupcakes; let cool.

Step#2-In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups of buttercream frosting with a couple drops of yellow and pink food coloring and a touch of green food coloring until you have a hue you like (light orange).

Step#3-Spread a coat of the now light orange icing onto the dozen cupcakes.

Step#4-Place remaining light orange icing into a pastry bag. Secure it with a #10 round tip to top it off.

Step#5-Using the now icing filled pastry bag, top the dozen cupcakes with fat zigzags. It works best to first pipe two zigzags down the middle and then fill in the sides.
